Making Memories: Door 84’s Epic Summer Residential
Posted on 2/9/2025
This year, 14 young people, aged 8 to 17, joined us for a fantastic adventure.
We kicked off our trip at Welton Waters Adventure Centre, diving straight into some awesome water activities. The group had a blast with paddle boarding, raft building, and kayaking, and of course, there was plenty of time for everyone to jump in the lake!
After all the water fun, we headed to Snowball Plantation in York for a two-night stay. We had a bonfire with s’mores, a delicious pizza party (a huge hit!), and some epic games of outdoor hide-and-seek. Which is an absolute favourite activity and is requested every year!
On the Wednesday we took a trip out to Scarborough, and no seaside visit would be complete without fish and chips – which went down a treat after a busy day by the coast.
A huge thank you to Cargill Cocoa York for their generous donation, which helped us cover the cost of the pizza party and our fish and chips. Your support made this trip even more special for the young people.
It’s been so rewarding to see the young people try new things, grow in confidence and make memories. Being able to continue this yearly tradition is a huge priority for the team at Door 84.
One of our young people, Zane, on their first residential, told me, “I had the best time ever, it was my first time away from home, but I loved it!”
I’m already looking forward to next year’s adventure!
