Cooking, Connecting and Confidence in the Kitchen

Posted on 10/12/2025

We’ve just wrapped up our fifth and final week of our 2025’s Cooking from the Cupboard course and what a finish! In the final session we cooked up a tasty 5-bean chilli, then all sat down to enjoy it together. There was plenty left over too, so everyone got to take an extra portion home for tea.

Over the past five weeks, we’ve been exploring easy, affordable recipes using ingredients most people already have in their cupboards. The course has covered the essentials: food prep skills, tasting sessions, cooking techniques and serving tips all in a friendly, relaxed space where everyone can learn at their own pace.

A huge thank you to our brilliant chefs Lisa, Kerry, Sue and Clare for doing such a fab job and leading the sessions with so much energy and enthusiasm. We’d also like to thank everyone who took part, you made it a fun, friendly and an enjoyable learning experience.

Katie summed it up perfectly:

“I really enjoyed it. I learnt cooking skills but also got to socialise with new people and I had a good laugh. I sometimes find it hard to get out of the house, but I was the first person to arrive each week – so that says something!”

Good news… we’re running two more 5-week FREE courses in the New Year!

  • 15th January 2026 – for ages 50 – 64
  • 19th February 2026 – for ages 16 – 24

If this sounds like something you (or someone you know) would enjoy, you can find more information here.

Come along, build confidence in the kitchen, meet new people, and pick up some great low-cost cooking ideas.
