Patrick’s Story – Sparks Attendee

Patrick has been attending Door 84 since 2018, after the closure of another community centre that used to run a disco. As soon as Patrick and his support worker Caroline experienced what Door 84 had to offer, they loved it, “We spread the word about the new disco to as many people as we could.”

With glow sticks, instruments, and disco lights, the sessions feel truly special. One of Patrick’s favourite things is being able to request songs for the DJ to play. “My favourite song is Build Me Up Buttercup.”

Beyond the music, Patrick loves the chance to make new friends and spend time with them outside his home environment. One of his best memories is the 1970s-themed fancy dress disco, where everyone dressed up and danced to classic hits from the decade.

He also enjoys Door 84’s trips, especially bowling. “It’s special because I get to spend time with lots of my friends at once – and it’s competitive too!”

For Patrick, Door 84 is more than just a place to go—it’s where he can connect, have fun, and be part of a community that truly matters to him.
