Finding Friendship and New Experiences at Door 84
Before joining Door 84, Ruby found life quite boring and rarely went out. That all changed when a friend recommended the youth sessions, telling her how much fun it was. “I tried it, and it was so good! I made new friends, and it got me out of the house.”
“Three years later, I’m still coming to Door 84, and it’s still so much fun.”
Since then, Ruby has taken part in trips and new opportunities, building friendships and confidence along the way. “I have so many memories, and there are still more to come!”
“Door 84 has had a huge impact on my life. It got me out of the house, helped me make lots of new friends—who I’m still close with—and gave me the chance to socialize and experience things I never thought I would.”
One of Ruby’s best memories is the Kingswood Residential trip, where she faced her fears, tried new activities, and bonded with new people. “I even had a dip in the lake, which was very funny! It was a trip I’ll never forget.”
She also loved helping out at the Christmas Family Fun Day. “I got to speak to new people, make others happy, and spread Christmas cheer.”
For Ruby, Door 84 has made a huge difference—not just in giving her new experiences, but in improving her mental health and sense of belonging.
