Young Volunteers (14-17 Years)

Our Young Volunteers are a team of hard-working young people aged 14-17 who help deliver our Tuesday open access session. The Young Volunteers project has run for several years and provides opportunities for around 8-10 young volunteers each year.

Those taking part are able to use their roles to improve their confidence, make new friends and positively contribute to the way we run our sessions. Training is provided to all Young Volunteers as well as support when taking on new responsibilities.

Duties include supporting the staff team, helping with session set up and close down, leading activities and being a positive role model to the Young People attending.

As a thank you for their hard work, we offer our Young Volunteers free access to all sessions, free trips during the year and a Door 84 perks card, which provides discounts and special offers with a range of local businesses. They can request references for employment.

I’m better at speaking to people and not shy anymore.

Events Committee (12-17 years)

Our Events Committee is a subdivision of our Young Volunteers open to 12-17 year-olds which helps Door 84 organise and run many of its events such as our Play Day Event and our Birthday Event.

The roles of the Events Committee vary from helping with planning and preparation to helping us on the day by running activities and stalls.

I get to learn new skills and make new friends. I definitely feel listened to at Door 84.
