Youth & Community Supply Worker – £9.72p/h

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Door 84 Youth and Community Centre for a Supply Youth & Community Support Worker to cover sickness and holiday with prospects for future opportunities.

Door 84 is a Youth and Community hub in York, creating bridges between young people, families, parents/carers and our community.

Founded more than 50 years ago, Door 84 is a registered charity and one of the leading providers of services to Children, Young People and the community in York. Door 84 started as a youth centre in the late 1960’s and has steadily grown, developing a strong reputation and track-record as a trusted provider of high-quality services for children, young people and the local community.

The main purpose of the job is to assist in the development and delivery of a programme of activities and services for Young People aged 8-25 years and adult members of our Community Sparks Project. The role includes working directly with Young People in a way that encourages personal development and considers their needs and aspirations. The Community Sparks Project is an inclusive group, providing an opportunity for adults with support needs to take part in creative and social activities.  The group meet twice weekly for members to learn and develop new skills, exploring each individual’s creative ambitions, make friends and help them grow socially. 

To collaborate with team members to plan, deliver and then evaluate youth work and community activities and contribute to staff meetings.

The role also includes helping to organise charity fundraising events, trips/residentials and supporting our volunteers.

The role requires a passionate, enthusiastic individual who works well on their own initiative and within a team. Experience and relevant training is desirable. Training will be given.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a highly motivated, supportive and committed team in a fast-paced and hugely rewarding environment. They will need an enhanced DBS check and references.

Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate must be flexible and available to cover the following sessions (these sessions are usual times, currently our sessions/projects are slightly different due to COVID)

Youth Session: Monday 5pm – 8pm, Tuesday 5pm – 8pm, Wednesday 6 – 9pm 

16-25 Project: Monday 7.45pm – 9.15pm

Girls and Boys Group: Wednesday 5.15pm – 6.15pm

Community Sparks: Tuesday 10.15am – 12.15pm and Thursday 10.30am – 12.00
