My background is in Human Resource Management initially in the engineering and pharmaceutical sectors. As a Director of a Further Education College for 16 years, I witnessed the impact raising expectations and a supportive environment had on the life chances of young people and vulnerable adults. Returning to my Yorkshire roots in 2011, I became involved with Door 84 in October 2018. With fellow Trustees and highly committed staff I look forward to bringing positive changes to the outcomes for young people and the wider community of Door 84.

I joined Door 84 as a trustee in 2020, but have worked alongside the organisation for about 10 years before that. I am a Senior Lecturer at York St John University and teach on courses that relate to Children, Young People and Education. Before this I worked as a professional youth and community worker in York. I live in York and outside of work enjoy cooking and making things.

I joined Door 84 when it was YBC Young Groves in 2009, and had previous contact through Round Table and York Rotary Club where both organisations supported them with funding.
I joined the committee to help re-establish what was a once thriving youth club.
A local business man (40yrs) in the building industry with many local and national business contacts. My time in both Round Table and Rotary had involved several Community Service and Fundraising projects. My contacts and experience in these areas together with running a family business enabled me to use these skills to push Door 84 forward.

I first got involved with Door 84 in 2010 when I volunteered on a mural project. I enjoyed it so much I stayed and soon began working as a Youth and Community Support Worker. I am passionate about working with people in environments that enable others to be creative, connected and thrive. My background is in community, youth and inclusive practice and I have worked in a variety of settings across York. My community based roles informed my Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Psychology in 2015 and I continue to build my knowledge as a Community Development Officer. I am delighted to be a Trustee and keen to support the opportunities Door 84 can offer local people of all ages.

As a Chartered Building Surveyor I started work in private practice with a firm of Architects. This was followed by a couple of years in the Architects Department of Devon County Council.
I moved to York to take up a new job at the University of York Maintenance Department in 1968 and my final role there was as Estates Surveyor responsible for the University Estate.
I was delighted to be asked to join the Trustees to support and participate in the development of the Charity and using my expertise in managing and maintaining the buildings and grounds.
