Our Project

Our Community Sparks Project is an inclusive group that has been running in York at Door 84 since 2011, providing an opportunity for adults with support needs to take part in creative and social activities.

We meet twice-weekly in an accessible space offering positive opportunities to learn and develop new skills, exploring each individual’s creative ambitions, make friends and help people grow socially

Sessions cost £6.50 (as of 1st September 2024) this includes free drinks and snacks for carers and access to the fareshare pantry which offers carers food items at significantly reduced prices.

Up to 85% of disabled adults aged 18-34 feel lonely (Scope).

By providing regular social opportunities for people at risk of loneliness, we support their wellbeing and happiness, instrumental in preserving good mental health.

Being part of Community Sparks has allowed me to get out of the black hole of depression I was in, I feel less lonely and know people care about me.
